Aqua Comms carried out a full review of scope 1 and scope 2 (tCo2e) use to enable emissions to be calculated on a site by site basis in 2021. In 2021 our scope 1 & 2 emissions intensity was 217 C02e/GWh and 42.15% of our energy consumption was from renewable sources. In 2022 Aqua Comms is reviewing its energy providers and looking to transition to renewable energy on targeted sites.

Aqua Comms is a member of the World Ocean Council, the alliance for corporate ocean responsibility.

Aqua Comms is supporting NYU research into the carbon efficiency of subsea cables and cable landing stations to maximise the environmental sustainability of digital infrastructure.

Aqua Comms has partnered with ITU/WMO/UNESCO IOC Joint Task Force on Smart Submarine Cables to encourage the use of cables for seismic monitoring.
