With each upgrade of our Ciena transponder technology we’ve pushed the limits of efficiency.

WaveLogic Ai brought a 67% reduction in power consumption per terabit while boosting capacity, and WaveLogic 5 Extreme achieved a further 48% reduction compared to its predecessor.

With the latest upgrade to WaveLogic 6 Extreme on our new AEC-1 fibre pair, we’re set to achieve an over 50% reduction in power consumption; pushing the boundaries of sustainability and performance even further.

More than 60% of our energy now comes from renewable sources, as we continue to collaborate with our partners to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030 in our operations, and drive sustainability forward together.
