Aqua Comms is the owner and operator of AEC-1, Ireland’s first dedicated subsea fibre-optic network interconnecting New York, Dublin and London. Ready for Service in early 2016, The AEC-1 submarine cable system delivers secure, low latency, high-quality transatlantic connectivity from New York to Ireland with diverse backhaul fibre to additional Points of Presence (PoPs) in the U.S., Ireland and U.K.

Flexible Leasing Options
Unique routing as the first modern, high capacity transatlantic system landing directly in Ireland with access to all major data centre hubs
Most secure route, avoiding shallow waters on the U.S. and Irish continental shelves, maximising protection from external aggression
Highest availability due to full diversity on all terrestrial backhaul segments in the U.S., Ireland and the U.K., and on Irish Sea crossings
Highly-efficient PoP to PoP solutions without the requirement for intermediate regeneration
Commercial Options
1. Leases
2. Capitalised Leases
3. IRU
Terms
Typical lease terms of 12, 24 and 36 months are offered. Various IRU terms are offered between 10 and 20 years, allowing capacity ownership and providing the most cost-efficient options.
The subsea cable system extends from a cable landing station in Shirley, Long Island and traverses 5,536km to a corresponding cable landing station in Killala, Co Mayo, Ireland. On the US side, diverse backhaul fiber is in place to PoPs at 800 Secaucus Road, 111 8th Ave, 32 Ave of the Americas, and 60 Hudson Street. The secure route from the US to Ireland avoids shallow waters, maximizing protection from external aggression. We have highly efficient PoP to PoP solutions without the requirement for intermediate regeneration and are certified for encryption using Ciena’s wireline encryption product, which is embedded in the lighting equipment and designed specifically to match the new capabilities of the subsea system.
We can offer flexible and scalable solutions facilitated with fast provisioning times particularly on pre-provisioned routes between our PoPs in New York, New Jersey,
Dublin, Manchester, Slough and London and can design customised solutions to provide connectivity between customer locations using local access circuits, connecting to Aqua Comms diverse backhaul network and transatlantic subsea infrastructure. Currently we have 10Gbps and 100Gbps available with migration plans to facilitate movement from n x 10G to 100G and on to Managed Aqua Spectrum – providing customisable Spectrum Services on one of the most modern, coherent systems with a fixed portion of the spectrum available on a fibre pair (subject to frequency limits) and increased capacity over time per industry technology roadmaps. We can also offer dark fibre infrastructure as a service available on selected routes.

Our Additional Low Latency Networks
The most-advanced ‘next-generation’ undersea cable system linking the U.S. to greater Europe.
Aqua Comms owns and operates CeltixConnect-1, a 72-fibre pair subsea cable connecting Ireland and the U.K.
Connects with CeltixConnect-1 to form a fully diverse and reliable circuit between Dublin and Manchester.
The first modern, high capacity system crossing the North Sea from the North East U.K. to mainland Europe.
